I purchased this as a second stone (the first one was exactly the same) for those occasions when we want to make more than one pizza at a time. The first stone has worked perfectly and has aged to a rich warm brown patina. It's interesting to place the new one right next to the old one and note the color and texture difference.

I place the stone in the oven on its metal carrier and bring it up to 500 degrees for at least 30 minutes. If you let it heat even longer, say as long as 60 minutes, the pizza will cook faster, so keep that in mind when baking. A thin pizza takes only 8-10 minutes. Baking at a much lower temperatures, which some recipes seems to recommend, will not result in a crisp nicely browned pizza - the pizza will be soggy in the middle - don't do it !
